Remembrance Sunday in Southend is 8 November 2026. Last year the parade formed at Prittlewell Square at 10:15am for the 11am service at the Cenotaph.
Remembrance Sunday 2026 falls on 8 November. Southend’s main service is held each year at the Southend Cenotaph on Clifftown Parade, with the two-minute silence at 11am. Southend-on-Sea City Council has not yet published this year’s arrangements.
Last year’s timings are the best guide. The parade formed at Prittlewell Square from 10:15am and reached the Cenotaph at 10:40am, and the council has run the service on the same pattern for at least the last two years.

What happened in 2025
The council announced its 2025 plans on 6 November, three days before the service (council news, 6 November 2025). This is what it said.

Laying a wreath
Members of the public can lay a wreath. In both 2024 and 2025 the council said anyone wishing to do so would be invited to come forward during the service, after the official wreaths (council news, 4 November 2024).
How the 2024 service ran
In 2024 the parade of armed forces, veterans, cadets and civilian organisations left Prittlewell Square from 10:30am. The Bishop of Bradwell led the service, with music from the Southend Citadel Band of the Salvation Army. It ended with the National Anthem, after which the parade reformed and marched past the saluting dais between the Cenotaph and Prittlewell Square (council news, 4 November 2024).
Road closures and parking
The council closes roads around the Cenotaph on the Sunday and puts in temporary parking restrictions. Closure orders are published on the council’s special events road closures page, which does not yet list a Remembrance order for 2026.

Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November
Last year the Mayor led the city’s two-minute silence at 11am on Armistice Day at Victoria Circus in the city centre, and residents were invited to join (council news, 6 November 2025). The council has not yet confirmed this year’s venue.
Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness
Leigh-on-Sea Town Council has published nothing about Remembrance 2026 on its events page. We will add services in Leigh, Shoeburyness and the parishes when their organisers publish them.
